Short Lectures will be organized on Coronal Holes, CMEs and Prominences
during the daily meetings.

Seminars are planned to be held during daily meetings on two topics (TBC) :

  • Solar-Terrestrial relationships
  • RHESSI

Week 1 :
Tuesday 20,  : Spectro-imagerie X/Gamma des eruptions solaires
avec RHESSI : objectifs scientifiques et premieres observations
by Nicole Vilmer, Observatoire de Paris-Meudon

Wednesday 21   : "On the comparison between coronal holes
plasma conditions and in-situ measurements in the fast solar wind"
by Milan Maksimovic, Observatoire de Paris-Meudon
milan.maksimovic/at/obspm.fr

Jean.Lilensten/at/obs.ujf-grenoble.fr

chantal.lathuillere/at/obs.ujf-grenoble.fr

and

Christian Hanuise, hanuise/at/odyssee.cnrs-orleans.fr

ATTENTION : new date
Wednesday 28, 10:00 local time : "Identification of the coronal sources of the slow solar wind"
Lucia Abbo Universite de Turin

The origin and the acceleration of the solar wind is one of the most
interesting problems in solar physics. The existence of two kinds of
solar wind, fast and slow, is known since the 70's, but the
identification of the source regions was clear only for the
fast wind. The study of the coronal sources of the slow wind that I will
present, is based on data obtained with the UltraViolet Coronagraph
Spectrometer (UVCS) on board SOHO. Through the spectroscopic analyses of
the observed line profiles, it is possible to determine the plasma
physical parameters and in particular to derive the outflow velocity of
the solar wind. The results of the analysis allow the identification of
the acceleration region of the slow wind, whose outflow velocity can be
measured in the range from 1.7 up to 3.5 solar radii.

Tuesday 27, if time allows : Quick overview of the CLUSTER mission,
by M. Maksimovic Observatoire de Paris-Meudon
milan.maksimovic/at/obspm.fr

Help on data analysis will be provided  for new visitors during Week 22.
